You know looking at this kinda makes me wonder about Matsuri. Outside his family I feel like she was the first to accept him starting when she became his student. She was his ONLY student at that time and maybe even after, so she spent a lot of time with him. I'm sure she was forbidden to go near him as a child or she was a shy thing from what I've seen of her pre-shippuden.
She took that first step though when he was still learning to be accepted. One of the very few, I admire her for that.
